For Gus Thieken, hospitality is more than a profession—it’s a calling. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, and one of eight siblings, Gus credits his Midwest upbringing and large family for shaping his warm, people-first approach. After earning his degree in Marketing and Sales from Ohio University, he began his career in energy sales but soon followed his passion into the restaurant world, where he quickly found his stride in the fast-paced, high-touch environment of dining.

Gus joined Cameron Mitchell Restaurants in 2021 as Beverage Manager at The Pearl in Columbus, Ohio, and played a key role in opening The Pearl Tampa in 2023. Promoted to General Manager in 2025, he brings an approachable energy, sharp attention to detail, and deep commitment to both his team and guests. Thanks to the collective effort of The Pearl team, the restaurant has earned recognition from The MICHELIN Guide, OpenTable, and Tampa Magazine.

Known for cultivating a culture of excellence and genuine care, Gus is passionate about watching his team grow both personally and professionally. Outside of work, he enjoys coffee, healthy food, reading, and sunset runs along Bayshore Boulevard—living each day with discipline, curiosity, and a deep love for what he does.
